Parkes Earns SoCon Student-Athlete Honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Davidson runner Presley Parkes has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for April 18, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Parkes, a sophomore on the women's outdoor track & field team, finished fourth in the 1,500-meter run at the Carolina's Cup hosted at the Irwin Belk Track in Rock Hill, S.C., last weekend. Her time of 4:45.94 was within two seconds of her personal best time of 4:43.60, which ranks sixth in program history in the event.
A native of Winchester, Va., Parkes boasts a 3.95 grade-point average. Her honor marks the sixth time this season a Davidson student-athlete has garnered the accolade.
The Wildcats will travel to Statesboro, Ga., for the 2013 SoCon Outdoor Track & Field Championships April 20-21.
