DAVIDSON, N.C. — Seeking the program's first Southern Conference Tournament Title, number two-seeded Davidson opens the SoCon Women's Basketball Tourney Saturday afternoon vs. tenth-seeded UNCG on the campus of UNC Asheville in Asheville, N.C.
The Opening Tip
Davidson (19-11, 16-4 SoCon) begins its march to the program's first tournament title by facing off against No. 10 UNCG (8-22, 4-16 SoCon) in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Kimmel Arena on the campus of UNC Asheville.
The Spartans opened the tournament against Furman, earning a 73-68 victory in the first round.
SoCon Tournament
The first two rounds of the tournament will be held at Kimmel Arena on the campus of UNC Asheville, while the semis and championship game will be televised on ESPN3 at the U.S. Cellular Center.
Radio
All contest for the Davidson women's basketball games during the tournament will be broadcast on teamline by Derek Smith and Leslie Urban, and can also be followed on the SoCon Tournament live stats.
The All-Time Series/Tournament Meeting ...
... is 28-18 in favor of UNCG, but Davidson has won five straight, including sweeping this year's two meetings by scores of 88-48 and 59-56 in overtime. The Wildcats have won 11 of the last 14 meetings overall.
Davidson and UNCG have faced each other three times in the tournament, with the Spartans holding a 2-1 advantage. The last time both teams faced each other was in 2005-06, with UNCG taking a 69-58 decision in the semifinals.
Last Meeting vs. UNCG...
… A fastbreak layup by Sophia Aleksandravicius with 39 seconds to play tied things up in regulation, before the Davidson women's basketball team went a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line in the extra minutes to earn a hard-fought 59-56 road win. Aleksandravicius recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 16 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Laura Murray also put up 16 points.
After a three-point play by UNCG to start overtime, Davidson held the Spartans scoreless the rest of the way, while sinking six free throws for the win.
SoCon Honors
Senior Sophia Aleksandravicius made program history again as she became the first Wildcat to earn a second Southern Conference Player of the Year honor, while also grabbing the Defender of the Year for a second straight season. Joining Aleksandravicius on the coaches all-conference team was junior Laura Murray, who was also tabbed All-SoCon Second Team by the media. Freshman Dakota Dukes became the sixth Wildcat to earn a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team as she was named to both the coaches and media's first-year team.
Aleksandravicius was named to the media's first team, making her the first Wildcat to earn first-team honors three times on both the coaches and media team.

Aleksandravicius Dominates on the Blocks...
•The senior has 16 double-doubles (17th in nation) with 12 of them coming vs. SoCon foes.
•For her career she has 46, while scoring in double digits 99 times in 122 career games.
•She is averaging a team-best 15.8 points (3rd in SoCon) and shooting 46 percent from the floor.
•Feb. 16 vs. Furman, Aleksandravicius register the program's first triple-double on the strength of 20 points, 10 rebounds and a new school-record 10 blocks.
•The senior holds seven career all-time Davidson records, including points and rebounds, while holding five single-season school-best marks including rebounds this year with 296.
