
Davidson Nabs No. 2 Seed For 2013 SoCon Women's Basketball Tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson, which finished second in the Southern Conference standings and earned the No. 2 seed, will start the league tournament Saturday, March 9, at Kimmel Arena against the winner of No. 7 Furman / No. 10 UNCG at 4:30 p.m., as the pairings were announced for the 2013 SoCon Tournament in Asheville, N.C.
The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a 16-4 record in league action, the second-best mark in school history following last year's 17-3 record.
Davidson has won 15 of their past 19 games and enter the tournament with a 19-11 record. The 'Cats concluded the regular season with a solid 72-46 victory at home on Senior Night Monday, March 4.
Chattanooga, which won their last 16 conference games, claimed the top seed in the women's tournament. The tournament will begin in UNC Asheville's Kimmel Arena with No. 8 Georgia Southern taking on No. 9 Western Carolina at 11:30 a.m., which is part of the Education Day program. That game will be followed by No. 7 Furman against No. 10 UNCG at 1:45 p.m. No. 6 Samford will take on No. 11 Wofford in the final opening-round game, with tipoff set for 4:00 p.m.
The women's semifinals and championship game, which is scheduled for Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the U.S. Cellular Center, can all be seen on ESPN3.
