Paddon, Osment Lead Wildcats at Charlotte 49er Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sarah Paddon and Erin Osment both picked up top-15 finishes in a loaded field as the Davidson women's track & field team competed in the first day of events at the Charlotte 49ers Invitational, hosted at the Irwin Belk Track Friday afternoon.
In addition to the Wildcats and the 49ers, Pittsburgh, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Wofford, West Virginia and Queens are among the other teams competing.
Osment finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 17:49.28 for a new personal best. Ali Cobb (18:57.15) and Grace Carr (19:09.77) joined her in the event, taking 39th and 46th, respectively. Lauren Carter took 50th in 19:12.40.
The duo of Paddon and Presley Parkes competed in the 1,500-meter run for the Wildcats, with Paddon leading the way in an 11th place finish. She crossed the line in 4:42.28 and was followed by Parkes, who clocked in at 4:47.73 for 20th place. Both ran personal bests and posted all-time top-10 times. Maggie Rickard joined them in the event, running a 5:11.23 for 73rd place.
Gracie Gordon competed in the prelims of the 100-meter dash, taking 46th overall in 12.96. Grace Watt, Ashlyn Gruber and Olivia Menden also saw prelim action, running the 400-meter dash. Watt clocked in at 1:01.03 for 31th place, Gruber finished in 1:01.22 for 33rd and Menden came in 36th at 1:01.46.
Kate Kostecky took third in her heat of the 400-meter hurdle prelims, finishing in 1:10.71 for 24th place.
In the field events, Gordon took sixth in her flight of the long jump. She recorded a distance of 4.59 meters for 35th overall. Molly Marshall took 15th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.75 meters.
