
Women Fourth, Men Fifth at TPSC Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Davidson women's swimming & diving team placed fourth overall, while the men's team took fifth at the Total Performance Swim Camps Invitational meet at Kenyon College Saturday evening.
The women's squad finished with a three-day total of 943.5 points. Pennsylvania took first overall with 2,412. The men's team accumulated 553.5 points, with Penn also winning the men's competition with 2.592 points.
The women's 200-yard medley relay took 12th overall in a time of 1:49.85. Lauren Malachowski, Caroline Vrana, Emma Tobey and Anna Blair Bullock teamed up for the swim. The men's relay took 10th overall, as Luke Burton, Grant Smith, Will Fox and Cameron Bard combined for a time of 1:33.58.
Elise Lankiewicz had another solid day for the 'Cats, placing fifth in the 500-yard free in a time of 4:56.39. Bullock joined her in the event, taking 20th overall with a time of 5:13.13. Max Schimanski competed in the bonus final for the men, finishing 27th in 4:42.20.
Malachowski placed 17th in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:08.73. Angie Healy clocked in at 2:09.59 for 19th, while Burton picked up a top-5 finish for the men. He took fifth in a time of 1:51.24.
Meredith Nakano continued on with another solid performance, taking third in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.12. Liz Mace was 19th in the event, touching the pads in 58.68. Fox swam a 50.74 for 14th in the men's race, and was followed by Bard in 17th at 51.55 and Bigham in 19th at 51.75.
Katy Williams was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:18.03, while Smith touched 11th in the men's race in 2:05.61.
Nakano and Kassie Shannon both claimed top-10 finishes in the 100-yard freestyle. Nakano was fifth in 51.65, with Shannon taking seventh in 52.11. Bard was the 'Cats' top-finisher in the men's event, taking 22nd in 46.96.
Emily Covert finished 22nd in the 400-yard IM, clocking in at 2:11.77, and was followed by Carter in 24th at 2:12.26. Smith was 12th for the men, touching the pads in 1:53.23.
The women's 400-yard free wrapped up the meet with a fourth-place finish as Shannon, Lankiewicz, Nakano and Healy posted a time of 3:27.91. The men's team was sixth, as Kegley, Smith, Bard and Burton swam a combined time of 3:07.66.
Following their training trip to Florida, the Wildcats head to Williamsburg, Va., to face William & Mary January 11 at 1 p.m.
