
Burton, Lankiewicz Garner CCSA Accolades

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Luke Burton and Elise Lankiewicz earned Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association honors for outstanding performances at the Total Performance Swim Camps Invitational this past weekend. The two earned CCSA Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Week accolades for the week of Dec. 11.
Lankiewicz came away from the meet with four program records and four top-5 finishes in individual events for the Wildcats. The Wilmington, Del., native set a new program mark of 2:01.76 with a win in the 200-yard butterfly, pairing the victory with a third-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Her time of 16:53.77 was a program record, as was her 1,000-yard split of 10:13.63. She continued on her record-breaking streak with a time of 4:56.39 in the 500-yard freestyle, taking fifth overall. In addition, Lankiewicz leadoff split of 1:49.72 in the 800-yard freestyle ranks second all-time at Davidson.
Burton was also stellar for the Wildcats, leading the men's squad with a pair of top-5 finishes at the meet. A native of Kennesaw, Ga., Burton posted a time of 50.16 in the 100-yard backstroke and a 1:51.24 in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing fifth in both events. He went on to anchor the Wildcats' 200-yard freestyle relay that took fourth overall, swimming a split of 20.60. Burton swam a 1:41.23 leadoff split in the 800-yard free relay, ranking seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in the Davidson all-time record books. He also posted the second-best time in Wildcat history in the 100-yard backstroke with his split of 49.93 in the 400-yard medley relay.
This marks the third weekly accolade for Lankiewicz and the first of the season for Burton. The Wildcats will resume competition January 11, when they head to Williamsburg to face William & Mary in dual meet action.
