
Derochie Earns Fourth Straight SoCon Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the fourth consecutive week, Davidson setter Mikayla Derochie was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week for matches played Sept. 30 – Oct. 7. The league announced the honor Monday.
The rookie setter posted 125 assists for an average of 9.62 as the Wildcats went 2-1 on the week. She assisted on 51 kills in the squad's thrilling 3-2 victory over UNCG (Oct. 5), tying her second-best output of the season. Derochie hit .273 with four kills in Davidson's 3-2 win over Winthrop (Oct. 1) and finished the week with just one attacking error. She is the first ever player to win the SoCon Freshman of the Week award four consecutive times.
The Wildcats travel to Boiling Spring, N.C., for a nonconference tilt at Gardner-Webb Tuesday, Oct. 8. Match time is set for 8 p.m.
