
Fan Voting Open for Big South All-Decade Volleyball Teams

As Davidson College competed in the Big South from 1990-91, a pair of former Wildcat players Mimi Plauche and Holt Hathaway, along with a former coach Rebecca Hawkins, are nominated for the 1990 all-decade team.
Plauche finished her career as Wildcats' all-time leader in kills with 1,739 and ranks seventh all-time with 1,407 digs. A member of the Davidson Hall of Fame, she was the 1991 Big South Player of the Year and helped to guide the squad to the conference finals in both 1990 and 1991.
Hathaway earned All-Big South honors in 1990 and 1991, and was also named to the all-tournament team in 1990. She ranks second all-time at Davidson with 243 service aces and is second with 3,826 career assists. Hathaway led the Big South in assists for the 1990 season.
Hawkins guided the Wildcats to a program-record 31 wins in 1990, helping the 'Cats to the conference finals in both 1990 and 1991. Under her direction, Davidson posted a 12-2 Big South record, tying Asheville for the 1991 regular season title after taking second in 1990. Hawkins was the Big South Coach of the Year in both 1990 and 1991.
Also nominated for the 2000 all-decade team is current Davidson assistant coach Emily Carrara, who was a setter for Winthrop from 2003-2006 under her maiden name of Emily Heckl. Carrara ranks sixth in Big South history with 4,900 career assists and led the league in assists in 2003, 2004 and 2006. Her 2004 average of 13.15 assists per set ranks second all-time in the BSC single-season rankings. Carrara, a team captain, helped the Eagles to four straight Big South championships and NCAA tournament appearances.
