DAVIDSON, N.C. — Returning home for the first time since Dec. 5, the Davidson women's basketball team gears up to host Appalachian State Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in a key Southern Conference matchup on the hardwood in John M. Belk Arena.
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN3, which can be found online at ESPN3.com or by clicking the link above.
The Wildcats and Mountaineers tied last year for the SoCon's regular season title with identical marks of 17-3 and are both off to 1-0 starts this year.
Game Notes: Quick Hits...
•Davidson (4-7, 1-0 SoCon) returns home for the first time in a month as it hosts SoCon Co-Regular Season champion Appalachian State (7-2, 1-0 SoCon).
•The Wildcats just concluded a four-game road swing, twice playing ranked opponents in No. 23 Miami and No. 13 Tennessee. Their lone win on the trip was at Gardner-Webb (59-56) on Dec. 13.
•The 'Cats will play 12 of their first 15 games on the road to start the year.
•The 'Cats return four starters and 12 letterwinners from last year's 22-10 squad (17-3 SoCon)
•Head coach Michele Savage enters her third year at Davidson (40-34, 26-15 SoCon).
Last Time Out...
•Davidson played eight-time NCAA Champion Tennessee, ranked 13th, and fell 75-40 on the road, Dec. 28.
•It was the first time facing the traditionally national power Lady Vols.
•Sophia Aleksandravicius led the Wildcats with 12 points, while Laura Murray added 11.
•The 'Cats played even with UT early, but an 18-2 run later in the first half allowed the Lady Vols to pull away.
Non-Conference Complete...
•Davidson wrapped up its non-conference slate of games with a 3-7 record, playing impressive foes in North Carolina, Rutgers, Miami and Tennessee.
•Miami and Tennessee were each ranked in the top-25, the first time Davidson had faced a pair of nationally-ranked opponents since seeing No. 7 Georgia and No. 15 Auburn in 2007-08.
Aleksandravicius Dominates Down on the Blocks...
•Sophia Aleksandravicius has registered four double-doubles in the last seven games.
•During her spurt, she is averaging 14.7 points and 9.7 rebounds and has 22 of her 34 blocks.

•Davidson looks to push its home win streak to eight straight, which would be the second-longest in school history. The Wildcats started 7-0 at home a year ago, the best start in program history.
Preseason Honors...
•Davidson was picked first in the SoCon preseason coaches poll and second in the media poll.
•Aleksandravicius was tabbed the preseason SoCon Player of the Year favorite, while she and Murray were named to the coaches preseason all-league team for the second time.

•Last year at home, Davidson took a 61-54 win behind Katrin Chiemeka's career-best 19 points.
Scouting the Opposition
•Appalachian State (7-2, 1-0 SoCon) had its six-game win streak snapped at West Virginia, 72-67, Dec. 28.
•Anna Freeman paced ASU with 25 points, while adding four assists, five rebounds and seven steals.
