Brown Earns SoCon Preseason Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After earning all-conference second team honors as a sophomore in 2011, junior outside hitter Caroline Brown has started the 2012 season off by being named to the Southern Conference's Preseason All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Brown ranked second in the SoCon with 3.88 kills per set last season after starting all 30 games for the Wildcats. She also led the team with 43 service aces on the season for an average of 0.41 per set. Brown ranked second in the SoCon in that category as well.
The Wildcats were picked to finish fourth in the South Division. Defending SoCon champion Samford, who the 'Cats fell to in the SoCon tournament last season, was tabbed to win the North Division with 10 first place votes for 65 total points. The coaches of the league also selected the College of Charleston to finish first in the South Division with six first place votes for 59 total points.
Davidson will open the season on August 28 when they host the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb in a 7 p.m. contest at Belk Arena.
