Cooke Appointed Chair of NCAA Baseball Rules Committee

INDIANAPOLIS - Davidson head baseball coach Dick Cooke has been appointed chair of the NCAA Baseball Rules committee, the NCAA announced.
Cooke's term on the rules committee began this past July and he will serve through September 2015. The chair appointment is year-to-year. As chair, Cooke will be responsible for leading the committee's deliberations at the annual meeting and serve as the committee's spokesperson.
“I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve on the rules committee, and even more so to serve as chair of it,” said Cooke. “The committee seeks the input of coaches, umpires and administrators at all level of college baseball to protect the integrity of the game and improve player safety. I look forward to working with the committee towards those goals to ensure student-athletes have a great experience playing college baseball.”
The committee is charged with protecting the integrity of the game, making sure student-athlete safety is paramount and balancing offense and defense.
Cooke will enter his 23rd season as Davidson's head baseball coach in 2013. He is the winningest coach in Davidson history and has also served as a coach for USA Baseball Pan-American and Olympic squads.
