ROCK HILL, S.C. – Davidson fans can watch men's soccer sophomores Max Riehemann and Luke Blades compete for the U.S. Youth Soccer Under-19 Boys National Championship as members of the Columbus Crew U-19 team live tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern on Fox Soccer Channel.
Both players have been in the starting lineup for the Crew. The U-19 team will be competing for the James P. McGuire Cup as well as the title of national champion. The McGuire Cup has been awarded since 1935, except during World War II, making it the oldest trophy in youth athletics.
As a freshman for the Wildcats in 2011, Riehemann was the top rookie scorer with three goals. Blades missed the entire 2011 season due to injury.
Former Davidson men's soccer head coach Charlie Slagle will provide the color commentary for tonight's telecast. Pregame coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. The game will take place in Rock Hill, S.C.
