ALSACE, France — Rising senior Katrin Chiemeka (Marienthal, France) took part in the half-marathon du Vignoble d'Alsace, June 2, in Alsace, France, and had an excellent showing in her age group as well as a nice overall performance.
The Davidson women's basketball shooting guard came in 336th overall for both the men's and women's groups out of 1,034 half-marathon runners. Even more impressive was she finished first among runners under the age of 23 and was the 27th women to finish the race.

Chiemeka is coming off a breakout junior season with the Wildcats. She put up career bests in nearly every offensive and defensive category, including points (4.7) and rebounds (3.6) per game. Chiemeka played in all 32 of the Wildcats' games, starting a personal-high 30 of them. She was tied for third on the team in offensive rebounds with 45 and was second in three-pointers, canning 27 of them.
The guard helped guide the Wildcats to one of its best season's in program history. They finished 22-10 and 17-3 in the Southern Conference, and captured the program's first regular season SoCon title. Davidson also earned a spot in the Women's NIT, just the second postseason bid for the program.
Chiemeka is one of five seniors who will suit up for the 2012-13 season as Davidson returns 12 letterwinners and four of its five starters.
