DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson senior swimmer Geoff Peitz has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The senior advances to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America honors.
Peitz, who was named second-team Capital One Academic All-District a season ago, is a two-time Mid-Major All-America Honorable Mention selection, a four-time All-Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) pick and qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team trials in the 100 back.
He won the 100 and 200 back at this year's CCSA Championship meet and collected conference titles on the 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay teams. Peitz was named CCSA Swimmer of the Week three times as a senior and graduates holding five individual conference records (100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly) and as a member of four conference record holding relay teams (200 free, 400 free, 200 medley, 400 medley).
The 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. Eligible sports for the At-Large Men's and Women's Teams include: Women's Bowling, Women's Crew, Men's and Women's Fencing, Women's Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, and Men's Wrestling.
