DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson College has announced its award winners for the 2011-12 athletic season, including the Tommy Peters Award (senior Ryan Hopkins- school record holder in 8K and 10K & three-time All-SoCon cross country runner) and the Rebecca A. Stimson Award (Christine Rua- one of first Davidson field hockey players to earn a spot on NFHCA All-South Region Second Team & winner of the NorPac's Sherly Johnson Academic Award), honoring the college's top male and female athletes.
In recognition of their outstanding dedication and contribution to intercollegiate athletics, senior swimmer and Mid-Major All-America Honorable Mention Geoff Peitz was presented with the Thomas D. Sparrow Award, while women's soccer's Stephanie Gerow received the Susan K. Roberts Award. Becca Fisher, the 2011 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year in women's soccer, was recognized with the Helen DeVane Carnegie Award, presented to Davidson's most outstanding freshman athlete.
