Eighteenth Annual Tom Scott Golf Tournament A Success

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - On Friday, April 20, one hundred and twelve supporters of Davidson Athletics took to the links at Birkdale Golf Club to help raise money for the Davidson Golf Program by playing in the 18th Annual Dr. Tom Scott Memorial Golf Tournament. Click here to see tournament pictures.
The tournament, organized by the Davidson Athletic Foundation, serves as an annual fundraiser for the golf program. This year's tournament netted over $33,000 for golf scholarships and the team's upcoming fall trip to Ireland. A special thank you to the following donors for our 2012 silent auction items: Cameron Griffin '09, L.D. Simmons '81, John McColl '85, Bill Hyder '96, Graeme Keith '54, Tim Eckstein, Hall Barnett '83, Ed Imbrogno '81, Mark Shogry '81, John Mann '83, and Julie Chrisco Andrews '78. This year's silent auction raised over $9,000!
The tournament is named in honor of Dr. Tom Scott, former Director of Athletics at Davidson from 1954 to 1975 and self-appointed golf coach from 1955 to 1976. Dr. Scott served as five-term president of the Southern Conference and helped prepare Davidson for the introduction of women's athletics in 1974.
