DAVIDSON, N.C. – Vermont's Samantha Stern registered a game-high six points, including three points in the second half when the Catamounts outscored the Wildcats, 13-5, resulting in a 19-9 win over Davidson on Sunday afternoon in Richardson Stadium.

Davidson (1-3) was within one (7-6) after Erin Doherty and Alanna Parker scored in the 26th and 22nd minutes, but the 'Cats saw Vermont go on a 7-1 run over the next six minutes and they never were able to recover.

Doherty was one of seven Wildcats to find the back of the net, scoring twice and dishing out an assist. Ann Fucigna had her 14th straight multi-goal game dating back to last season, with a pair of goals, and Erin Keitel had two points on a goal and assist.

Vermont (3-0) had five players hit for multiple goals, led by Adison Rounds five on the afternoon. Sydney Mas had three goals, while three other Catamounts had two apiece.

The Wildcats were down just two at the half after a back-and-forth period. Both teams were knotted up at 4-all at the 11:31 mark when Keitel tied things up by finding the back of the net on a free-position shot. It was the third one of the half for the 'Cats as Mary Leonard and Jenna Mugele converted on their attempts earlier in the stanza.

Mas and Stern hooked up to push the Vermont lead to 7-4 with an opening goal at the 28:36 of the second half. The duo hooked up to also close out the first half scoring that made it 6-4 with under four minutes left.

Doherty got a pass from Keitel for a goal to make it 7-5 and then Parker followed four minutes later by hitting a free-position shot for a 7-6 score and 22:58 on the clock.

The momentum was taken away though, as Vermont answer with their 7-1 run that stretched to 12-3 the rest of the game to finish off the 19-9 decision. Emily Cooke, Fucigna and Doherty were the lone Wildcats to score after Parker's score.

Parker and Diane Girling each had four draw controls, while Girling added three groundballs and three caused turnovers, both season bests for the freshman.

Goalie Jessica Melby finished with eight saves on the afternoon, while Vermont's Laura Barber had seven for the win.

Davidson will host St. Francis (Pa.), March 7, at 1 p.m. as it continues its six-game homestand.
