Swimming and Diving Teams Head to CCSA Championships This Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson men and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the CCSA Championships at Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., this weekend. The meet starts at 10 a.m. Thursday and finishes Saturday night.
The men will attempt to win their third consecutive title, while the women are looking for their first championship since 2008. The prelims begin at 10 a.m., and the finals start at 6 p.m. each day. Below are the likely Davidson swimmers in each event.

Sprint Freestyle
Men – Geoffrey Peitz, Curtis Chaney, Wills Cooper and Drew Onken all have top league times in the 50, 100 and 200 free. Brandon Kegley's best 100 free time ranks fourth, and Dylan Ludwick's top 200 free time ranks third.
Women - Meredith Nakano and Jean DeOrnellas have posted top-10 league times in the 50 free. DeOrnellas and Lauren Kamperman own CCSA top times in the 100 and 200 free.
Distance Freestyle
Men – Ludwick owns the league's top times in the 500 and 1650 free, and Chaney's 500 free time ranks second. Onken and Benjamin Stewart-Bates have top-5 times in the 500 free as well.
Women - Meagan Madden's best time in the 1650 free ranks 12th in the CCSA. Lillie Seifart and Allison Cottle own Davidson's other top times in the two events.
Backstroke
Men – Peitz and Chaney have the CCSA's top two times in the 100 back, while Peitz and Onken have the league's top-two times in the 200 back.
Women - Kelsi Hobbs has Davidson's top time in the 100 back, which ranks 16th in the league. Mackenzie Robinson has the league's third fastest time in the 200 back, and Francesca Devine's time ranks 15th.
Butterfly
Men – Peitz owns the CCSA's top time in the 100 and 200 fly. Chaney's time in the 100 fly ranks third, and Onken and David Kerman have the third and fourth-fastest times in the 200 fly.
Women - Nakano owns the league's third-fastest time in the 100 fly, and DeOrnellas' time ranks sixth. Elizabeth Mace, Hobbs and Robinson all have CCSA top swims in the 200 fly.
Breaststroke
Men – Onken, Peitz, Patrick Gill and Wesley Gill all have CCSA top-10 100-breast times. Onken owns the league's top 200-breast time, while Ludwick, Patrick Gill and Andrew Glenn have recorded top-10 times.
Women - Nakano has the league's third-fastest time in the 100 breast, and her time in the 200 breast ranks second.
Individual Medley
Men – Onken and Peitz have the top two CCSA times in the 200 IM, and Ludwick's time ranks sixth. Onken also as the league's top 400 IM time, while Ludwick's ranks fifth.
Women - Nakano and Kamperman rank third and fourth in the CCSA in the 200 IM. Kamperman's time in the 400 IM ranks fourth, and Robinson has Davidson's other top time in the event.
