Local Product Andy Simmons Signs with Davidson Golf Team for 2013-14

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Andy Simmons (Charlotte, N.C. / Myers Park) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Davidson men's golf team for the 2013-14 season, head coach Tim Straub recently announced.
“I am very excited to have Andy Simmons joining our golf team next year,” said Straub. “Andy is a tremendous student athlete and is a great addition to our golf team. He has been one of the top junior golfers not only in North Carolina but nationally and I look for him to have a terrific college career.”
Currently the third ranked golfer in the state of North Carolina and 34th Nationally, Simmons is a two-time Southwestern 4A Conference Player of the Year.
In addition to being named the 2012 South Charlotte Golfer of the Year, Simmons was a 2011 and 2012 Big “I” National Junior Qualifier, while finishing 16th in the National Junior Tournament this past summer.
Andy is the son of LD Simmons '81, who earned all-conference honors in 1978 as a member of the Davidson golf team.
