Wildcats Complete Day One of TPSC Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio – Select members of the Davidson men's and women's swimming and diving teams took part in the first day of action at the Total Performance Swim Camps Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College on Thursday evening.
The men's squad is third with 61 points through event four. The Univ. of Pennsylvania sits in front of the competition with 181 points, while host Kenyon is second with 96. The Wildcat women rank fourth through four events, following first-place Penn (191 points), Kenyon (second place – 98 points) and Carnegie Mellon (third place – 58 points).
Distance events, as well as the 800-yard freestyle relay, made up day one of action. The first day followed a different format than the rest of the meet, as there were no preliminary swims for the 1,650-yard freestyle.
The women's 800-yard freestyle “A” relay finished fifth out of 21 teams to start the meet. The quartet of Meredith Nakano, Angie Healy, Liz Mace and Lauren Malachowski combined for a time of 7:37.57.
Max Schimanksi and Dylan Ludwick were neck-and-neck in the 1,650-yard freestyle, with Schimanski edging out Ludwick for 12th place. Schimanksi touched the pads in 16:17.65, while Ludwick placed 13th in 16:18.49.
In the women's 1,650, Anna Blair Bullock was the leader for the 'Cats in 11th place with a time of 17:34.61. Teammate Lillie Seifart was 15th with a time of 17:56.99 and was immediately followed by Allison Cottle in 16th as she touched the wall in 18:14.30. Jessica Miller also swam the event, finishing 18th in 18:17.99.
To wrap up the first day of the competition Drew Onken, Grant Smith and Brandon Kegley teamed with Schimanksi for a seventh place finish. The four swam a time of 6:54.65.
The 'Cats will return to action on Friday, with preliminary swims at 9:30 a.m. Finals for the second day of action will start at 5:30 p.m.
