Wildcats To Host 2012 SoCon Volleyball Tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C – Head coach Chris Willis and the Davidson volleyball team will welcome seven of their SoCon foes to Belk Arena this weekend when they host the 2012 Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament . The event will start on Saturday and conclude with the championship game on Monday.
Georgia Southern and Samford enter as the top seeds from the South and North Divisions, respectively. Georgia Southern finished with a 24-6 overall record and a 15-1 conference mark, while Samford was 22-8 on the season and 14-2 in league action.
Following the Eagles in the South Division is No.2 College of Charleston (23-7, 14-2) and No. 3 Furman (22-9, 10-6). Davidson (11-15, 7-9) claimed the final spot in the division and will enter as the fourth seed.
In the North Division, Elon (16-15, 9-7) claimed the No. 2 seed, while Chattanooga (14-17, 8-8) finished the season ranked third. UNCG (13-15, 7-9) rounds out the division as the No. 4 seed.
The tournament will start with four quarterfinal games on Saturday morning. The first match is slated for 10 a.m., with the following matches scheduled for 12:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The winners from each will advance to Sunday's semifinals, which are slated for 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The championship game will take place on Monday at 6 p.m. Matchups are listed in the bracket below.
The quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be shown free of charge on SoConSports.com. Fans can also follow along with live stats at DavidsonWildcats.com. The championship matchup will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Tickets are $10 per session for adults and $5 per session for children. The first session on Saturday consists of game one (10 a.m.) and game two (12:30 p.m.), while the final two games (4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.) comprise the second session. Sunday and Monday will each feature one session. Students who show a student ID from any SoCon institution will be admitted free of charge.
