GREENSBORO, N.C. – Drew Onken and Meredith Nakano each picked up top-10 finishes in their respective events as the Davidson men's & women's swimming and diving teams finished up competition at the All-North Carolina Invitational at the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Saturday.
 
The men's squad finished sixth with 765.5 points. Host N.C. State leads the pack with 1,556 points, followed by Duke with 1,197.5.  On the women's side, the Wildcats took fourth at the competition, accumulating 835.5 points. N.C. State is in front with 1,563 points with East Carolina in second at 1,383 points.
 
Onken posted top-10 finishes in three events in two sessions on the final day of the meet. He started things off with a third place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, touching the pads in 4:05.88. He then took seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 58.46 before swimming a 2:07.67 in the 200-yard breaststroke for fifth place.  Onken also combined with Brandon Kegley, Will Fox and Cameron Bard for a 12th place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:37.49.
 
Fox snagged a sixth place finish in the 100-yard butterfly for the 'Cats, swimming a 52.17. Dylan Ludwick also had some of Davidson's top finishes of the day, taking seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle.  He finished in 1:45.03 in the 200 free and swam a 16:46.87 in the 1650. Max Schimanski followed Ludwick in the latter event, with Schimanski taking eighth in a time of 16:47.42.
 
In addition to Onken, Spencer Gill also competed in the 200-yard breaststroke for a 12th place finish. He swam a time of 2:12.15 and was followed by Grant Smith in 12:13.31.  Smith took 14th overall.

The men's 400-yard freestyle relay of Onken, Kegley, Ludwick and Ben Stewart-Bates took 10th in a time of 3:12.19.
 
On the women's side Nakano finished fourth in both the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard breaststroke. She clocked in at 57.46 in the butterfly before touching in 2:23.93 in the breaststroke event.
 
Teammate Liz Mace was 13th in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.59, while Kelsi Hobbs took 17th in 1:00.07. Allison Cottle was the 'Cats top finisher in the longer event, the 200-yard butterfly, taking 11th in 2:10.19.
 
Lauren Malachowski swam to a 10th place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.10) and to a13th place finish it the 200-yard freestyle, touching in 1:57.48. She later took 12th in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:09.57.
 
Malachowski and Nakano teamed with Caroline Vrana and Jean DeOrnellas for a seventh place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. They swam a time of 1:50.28 in the event. The four also teamed up for a fourth place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, swimming a 3:36.32.

Kaliya Burton-Akright took sixth in the one-meter diving event, scoring 216.9 points. Karen Monuszko was eight in the event with 196.5 points. 
 
The Wildcats will head to Greenville, N.C., on October 20 to take on East Carolina in a 1 p.m. dual meet.
