Davidson Hosts Georgia Southern on “Senior Day” / Homecoming Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson will conclude its home slate with a “Senior Day” / Homecoming matchup against Southern Conference foe Georgia Southern Saturday evening with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Alumni Stadium.

“This is a big weekend for lots of reasons,” said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. “Most important is that it is a crucial Southern Conference match. We know that Georgia Southern will be motivated and well prepared. But it's key that we can put together a winning performance.”

Prior to the contest, seniors Andrew DiLallo, Brian McGue and Peter Paras will be honored for their contributions both on and off the field.

“We will also toast our three impressive seniors. Brian, Andrew, and Peter have given a lot to this team and to our program. We are better because of their impact. And they have represented us well as captains and as ambassadors off the field.”

Looking to end a three-game skid, the Wildcats enter 4-5-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the SoCon following a 2-0 setback to No. 15 Wake Forest Tuesday.

Freshman Valeriy Sviderskiy continues to lead Davidson in scoring with four goals off the bench.

Georgia Southern, which has dropped six straight contests, comes in with a 2-8-0 record. The Eagles are allowing 2.50 goals per contest this season.

In addition to “Senior Day” festivities, the 1992 Final Four team will be recognized at halftime of Saturday night's contest.

“The 20^th Anniversary of the 1992 Final Four team is special to me, to our program, and to the College,” Spear said. “The accomplishment of that season still resonates for a lot of people. And it will be amazing to have so many of the players from the team, their families and Coach Charlie Slagle together again.”

Davidson will conclude its regular season with six-straight contests on the road, including dates at North Carolina (10/9) and Duke (10/23).
