
Onken, Burton-Akright Earn CCSA Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Davidson swimming & diving teams claimed two of the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association's four weekly awards, as Kaliya Burton-Akright was named the CCSA Diver of the Week while Drew Onken received his third CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week acknowledgement as announced by the league on Wednesday.
Burton-Akright won both diving events to help the Wildcat women to a 152-148 win over league rival College of Charleston. She scored a career best 269.17 points to win the 1-meter competition and recorded 259.73 points in the 3-meter competition.
For the third consecutive week, Onken claims the league honors with three individual first-place finishes as well as a relay win in leading the Wildcat men past the CofC Cougars 163.5-130.5. He clocked in at 1:42.53 to win the 200-yard freestyle and touched first in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:54.80. Onken wrapped up his individual races with a win in the 200-yard IM in a time of 1:56.00 before swimming the breaststroke leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay.
Davidson will host CCSA foe VMI on Nov. 10 in a 1 p.m. dual meet at Cannon Natatorium.
