CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second consecutive week Davidson swimmer Drew Onken has been named the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association's Male Swimmer of the Week, announced the conference on Wednesday. Onken earned the honor for his performance in the Wildcats' meet at East Carolina.
Onken picked up a win and two runner-up spots in Saturday's loss to the Pirates. He took first in the 400-yard individual medley, touching the pads in 4:06.56. Onken then placed second in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. He clocked in at 59.12 in the 100-yard event before finishing with a time of 2:09.31 in the longer race. Onken joined teammates Ethan Levinson, Brandon Kegley and Will Fox to take third place in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:37.90
This is the second straight CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor for Onken, who claimed the award three times last season. The defending two-time CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Year, he currently boasts the league's top times in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard IM, as well as the 200-yard IM.
The Wildcats will open their home slate on Saturday when they host CCSA foe the College of Charleston in a 2 p.m. meet at Cannon Pool.
