Trio of Wildcats Earn CCSA Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Davidson College's Geoffrey Peitz and Tim Keating have been selected as the CCSA Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for meets competed Jan. 16-22, the league announced today. Davidson's Meredith Nakano has been selected as the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Peitz won a pair of individual events and two relay events in Davidson's 196-89 victory over Gardner-Webb last weekend. The senior took home first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.87 before touching in at 1:51.21 in the 200-yard backstroke. In the 200-yard medley relay, Peitz swam the first leg with a split time of 23.64. He then swam the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay with a split time of 21.71.
Keating won the 3-meter dive and placed second in the 1-meter dive in the Wildcats' dual meet victory over Gardner-Webb last weekend. The junior posted a season-best score of 179.55 on the 3-meter board before earning 158.87 on the 1-meter board.
Nakano won three individual events in Davidson's 170-124 win over the Bulldogs. She won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.45 before taking first-place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.22. The freshman then swam the 100-yard fly, clocking in at 57.88 for her final first-place finish.
It's the fifth and sixth CCSA weekly honor for the Wildcat men this season and third for the Davidson women.
Both teams are back in action this Saturday as Davidson hosts the CCSA?Duals in Cannon Natatorium. The first event is set to start at 1 p.m.
