ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Davidson football team placed 64 players on the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll for the fall, 2011 semester, as the Wildcats posted a 3.02 grade point average.
Davidson's 64 players on the PFL Academic Honor Roll ties the highest total for the program. Sixty-four Wildcats earned the honor in 2009, 60 in 2010, and 50 were named to the Honor Roll in 2008.
The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full time in accordance with NCAA rules.
The PFL announced a record 482 football student-athletes from its 10 member institutions earned the honor. It is the third consecutive year the PFL has announced a record number of students to its honor roll with its current 10 member institutions. It also is the fifth consecutive year the league has seen an increase in the number of students recognized on its honor roll.
Five member schools reported a record number of student-athletes from their respective institutions. Dayton led all members with a school-record 72 student-athletes. Butler (68), Davidson (64), Drake (61) and Campbell (56) also reported school-record honorees. That quintet was followed by San Diego (42), Morehead State (32), Valparaiso (32), Jacksonville (28) and Marist (27).
