Davidson Swimming and Diving Hosts Gardner-Webb on Senior Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson men and women's swimming and diving teams will host Gardner-Webb Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cannon Natatorium, and the Wildcats will honor nine seniors participating in their final home dual meet prior to the opening event.
Swimmers Joe Burquist, Curtis Chaney, David Kerman and Geoff Peitz as well as diver Nick Taylor make up the men's senior class. Diver Jessica Ardecky and swimmers Lauren Kamperman, Meagan Madden and Juliana Porter are the Davidson women's seniors.
This will be the first dual meet of the semester for both the men and women's teams. The men are coming off a third-place finish at the Kenyon Total Performance Invitational, while the women were fourth at the meet.
Peitz and Drew Onken lead the Wildcat men. Peitz has recorded the best time in the CCSA this season in the 50 free (21.04), 100 back (50.15), 100 fly (48.99) and 200 fly (1:51.42). Onken has the CCSA's fastest times in the 100 free (46.24), 200 back (1:50.96), 200 breast (2:02.23), 200 IM?(1:51.03) and 400 IM?(3:53.35). The junior set a pool and meet record in the 400 IM at the Kenyon Invitational.
Chaney has recorded the CCSA's fastest time in the 200 free (1:38.14), while Dylan Ludwick owns conference bests in the 500 free (4:34.84), 1000 free (9:40.82) and 1650 free (15:49.19).
Meredith Nakano and Lauren Kamperman lead the Wildcat women. Nakano has CCSA?top-10 times in the 50 free (23.93), 200 free (1:54.91), 100 breast (1:05.26), 200 breast (2:19.91), 100 fly (56.41) and 200 IM?(2:06.80). Kamperman has top-10 times in the 200 free (1:52.95), 200 IM?(2:07.08) and 400 IM?(4:31.01). Jean DeOrnellas has recorded top-10 fastest league swims in the 50 free (24.30), 100 free (52.58) and 100 fly (57.30).
Following Saturday's meet, the Wildcats host the CCSA Duals Jan. 28, and then compete in the CCSA Championships Feb. 16-18.
