Three Top-10 Finishes Help Wildcats to Runner-Up Finish at Winthrop

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Freshman Erin Osment, junior Natalie Atabek and freshman Sarah Paddon each finished in the top 10 to lead the Davidson Wildcat women's cross country team to a runner-up finish at the 25th Winthrop Cross Country Invite Saturday.
Osment finished first for the Wildcats, placing third overall with a time of 18:11.66. Atabek was immediately behind with a fourth-place time of 18:18.70, and Paddon turned in the team's third top-10 finish, placing seventh with a time of 18:41.82. The trio was also named to the All-Invitational Team.
Freshman Manya Swick (18th, 19:16.51) and sophomore Megan Mavity (24th, 19:25.22) rounded out the scoring for Davidson, who finished with 51 points overall and just behind South Carolina (43).
The Wildcats edged out the only SoCon team in the pool, as Wofford finished in third place with 86 points. Host Winthrop finished fourth, ahead of Mount Olive, Gardner-Webb, Wingate, South Carolina State, Mars Hill, Spartanburg Methodist, Benedict and Claflin.
Davidson returns to action after a weekend off at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Park on September 30.
