Men's and Women's Swimming Named Scholar All-America Teams, Five Individuals Recognized

DAVIDSON, N.C. — To conclude their outstanding seasons, both the Davidson Wildcat men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been named Scholar All-Academic Teams by the College Swim Coaches Association of America for the 2010-11 academic year. Additionally, Jean DeOrnellas, Bryan Droll, Drew Onken, Geoffrey Peitz and Anna Stringfield were recognized as Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans.
The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring). The Wildcat men achieved a cumulative team GPA of 3.12, while the Davidson women made the list with a 3.37 team GPA.
The CSCAA also presents the Scholar All-American award to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have qualified for their respective national championship, as well as the Honorable Mention Scholar All-American award to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher and have achieved a "B" time standard in their respective national championship. DeOrnellas, Droll, Onken, Peitz and Stringfield were each recognized as Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans.
The College Swimming Coaches Association is the oldest coaches organization in America. In addition to Scholar All American Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All-American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.
