Wildcat Sophomore Trio Named to HCBL All-Star Roster

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson's sophomore trio of Forrest Brandt, Justin Charles and Jip Richards have been named to the roster for the 2011 Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, to be played Monday, July 18 at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu, Hawaii.
In the outfield, Brandt, who was also named Player of the Week on June 22, is batting .321 with eight doubles and nine RBI with a team-leading 11 stolen bases in 22 games (20 starts) with the Paddlers this summer. On the mound, southpaw Charles sports a 1-1 record and a 2.90 ERA in 12 appearances (five starts) with 22 strikeouts, and right-hander Richards has made 11 appearances (six starts) with a 2-2 record and a 6.03 ERA to go along with 27 strikeouts.
The All-Star Game pits the Mauka (mountain) Warriors against the Makai (ocean) Islanders. Both pitching for the Surfers, Richards and Charles will play for the Warriors, while Brandt will play for the Makai, as an outfielder for the Paddlers.
