Barron, Goldberg Selected to All-Star Games

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Junior outfielder Coleman Barron and junior right-handed pitcher Michael Goldberg have been named to their respective All-Star teams for outstanding play this summer.
Barron was selected to the roster for the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game, to be held at 7:05 p.m. on July 18 at Dunn Field in Elmira, N.Y. The league's eight head coaches voted on the rosters for the 2011 All-Star Game, the first in the history of the PGCBL. The format pits the All-Stars of the league's East Division against those of the West, and the event also features a home run derby at 6 p.m. prior to the All-Star Game.
Barron has started 22 games in the outfield for the Hawkeyes, batting .227 with 17 hits, a double, a triple and seven RBI. Goldberg was named as an alternate to the 2011 West All-Star Roster in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. The game was scheduled for July 13 at Winthrop University but was postponed until July 17 because of rain. For a full list of the All-Star Team, visit the SCBL homepage.
