DAVIDSON, N.C. — Assistant swimming coach Chris Brammer has been named an Honorable Mention Rising Assistant Coach of the Year by CollegeSwimming.com.
Brammer, who just completed his second season with the Davidson Wildcat swimming and diving program, has been a critical cog in the teams' recent success, which includes back-to-back CCSA titles for the men's team and back-to-back NCAA appearances for Lindsey Martin.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Chris," head coach John Young said. "It's hard to overstate his importance to our program, and I'm pleased that the selection committee agreed that he is, indeed, a rising star in the coaching profession. We are fortunate to have him with us here at Davidson."
"Chris was unable to attend my first NCAA meet in 2010. However, from thousands of miles away in Saudi Arabia he supported me through daily emails," Martin said. "While I envy the swimmers who will continue swimming under his coaching now that I'm graduating, I'm thankful to have had Chris' example of kind, involved leadership from which I can always pull inspiration."
Stanford's Ted Knapp, Clemson's Derek Perkins and Tennesee's Joe Hendee were all named Assistant Coach-of-the-Year by CollegeSwimming.com. Perkins, of Clemson University was cited as the top Rising Assistant in the sport while Stanford University's Knapp and the late Joe Hendee of Tennessee were recognized as in the Lifetime/Career Category.
