Peitz Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's At-Large Second Team

Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team
DAVIDSON, N.C. — Capping off an impressive junior season, Geoffrey Peitz has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
After a dominant performance at the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) championships that included three individual titles (200 IM, 100 and 200 back), all in school and CCSA record, NCAA B-cut times, Peitz was named 2011 CCSA Men's Most Outstanding Swimmer. He also swam on three winning relays (200 and 400 free and 400 medley) at the league championships, and is the CCSA and school record-holder in the 100 free, 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM.
In the classroom, the rising senior maintains a 3.82 GPA as an economics and psychology double major.
"Geoff Peitz continues to impress," head coach John Young said. "I am continually proud of the manner in which Geoff aspires towards excellence in every endeavor, and thrilled that his academic achievements have been recognized."
The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, is released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically and in the classroom. Eligible sports for the At-Large Men's and Women's Teams include: Women's Bowling, Women's Crew, Men's and Women's Fencing, Women's Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Men's and Women's Ice Hockey, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Men's and Women's Rifle, Men's and Women's Skiing, Men's and Women's Swimming, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Water Polo, and Men's Wrestling.
The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division team includes NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division team combines NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
