ATHENS, Ga. -- Junior Geoffrey Peitz rewrote a CCSA and school-record in an NCAA B-cut time in the 100 fly at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of Georgia.
A week after being named the CCSA Swimmer of the Meet, Peitz swam a time of 47.64, bettering on the league and school-record time of 48.17 held by Florida A&M's Mujahid El-Amin from the 2008 season. Peitz went 48.19 in the morning's prelim to break the school record previously held by Joe Burquist of 49.43 from last season's CCSA championships before dropping time in the evening session.
Last weekend, Peitz won the 200 back for his third individual championship at the 2011 CCSA Championships in a CCSA and school-record, NCAA B-cut time of 1:45.67 and was named CCSA Men's Most Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet. His dominant performance included three individual titles — the 200 IM, 100 back and 200 back, all in school and CCSA record, NCAA B-cut times, while swimming on three winning relays — the 200 and 400 freestyle and the 400 medley relay, also all school and CCSA record, NCAA B-cut times.
The Wildcats will conclude the Last Chance Meet tomorrow afternoon.
