Records Fall For Davidson Swimming To Open Kenyon Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Davidson Wildcats had a strong start to the Kenyon College Performance Invitational at the Kenyon Aquatics Center Thursday night, as the men broke the college and conference 800 freestyle relay records and Dylan Ludwick's 1000 split in his mile broke the school record.
Curtis Chaney, Ludwick, Ben Stewart-Bates and Drew Onken came in second in the 800 relay with a new Davidson and conference record of 6:42.93. The team finished three seconds behind the University of Pennsylvania relay team (6:39.90.)
Ludwick finished second with a time of 15:49.19 in the 1000.
The Wildcat women's relay squad of Meredith Nakano, Mackenzie Robinson, Jean DeOrnellas and Lauren Kamperman finished ninth in the 800 freestyle with a time of 7:43.08.
The women are in fifth place with 41 points at the conclusion of the first day of competition. Pennsylvania leads the six-team field with 149 points, followed by Kenyon College (118), Bowling Green State University (70), Carnegie Mellon University (44). Grove City College rounds out the field with 33 points.
The Davidson men are in third place with 64 points. Pennsylvania (177) is leading the men's field as well, followed by Kenyon College (99). Carnegie Mellon University (54) and Grove City College (39) round out the field.
Davidson returns to action Friday and Saturday to complete the three-day meet.
