DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling team will compete in Belk Arena for the first time this season Sunday afternoon, hosting Ohio Northern at 1 p.m.
Fans unable to attend the meet in person can follow online via live video and live stats.
Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson is coming off a break for exams, last competing on Dec. 3 when it hosted the Davidson Open in Knobloch Tennis Center. Senior Tyler Mullen (165 pounds) and junior Matt Zarth (125) led the Wildcats, as both reached the finals of their respective weight brackets. Sophomore Scott Patrick leads the team this season with a 10-3 record. Half of his wins have come by fall, and he placed third at the Davidson Open. It has been a month since the 'Cats competed in a dual meet. Davidson took on both Campbell and South Dakota State in their dual meet opener in Buies Creek, N.C., but dropped both matches.
Scouting the Polar Bears: Ohio Northern is ranked 26th in the nation in NCAA Division III and competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Polar Bears are 3-3 with all three of their losses coming to ranked opponents. Michael Pawlitz leads the team with an 11-1 record and seven pins at 197 pounds. Jeremy Jones boasts a 9-3 mark at 133 pounds.
The Series: This is the first meeting between Davidson and Ohio Northern.
Up Next: Davidson will compete against Princeton, Columbia and Eastern Michigan at the Pitt Duals hosted by the University of Pittsburgh Saturday, Jan. 7.
