RALEIGH, N.C. – Junior John Skeadas placed 16th to lead Davidson men's golf to a 10th-place finish at 890 (298+290+302), Tuesday at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate on the Lonnie Poole Golf Course at NC State.
Skeadas led Davidson in the final round with a three-over-par, 74 to finish at 218. Senior Jackson Taylor posted the team's second-best score of the round with a 75.
The Wildcats finished in one stroke behind ninth-place Minnesota (889), two strokes behind fellow Southern Conference-member Elon (888) and three strokes behind seventh-place NC State (887).
Memphis won the team title while UNCG's Robert Hoadley claimed medalist honors with a three-round score of 209 (69+68+72). UNCG finished two strokes behind Memphis.
Freshman Todd Eckstein was Davidson's next-best finisher placing 38th at 223 (74+73+76). Sophomore Richard Fountain placed 49th at 226 (77+72+77). Classmate Sam Echikson was two strokes back at 228.
Davidson will travel north to Ohio next Monday and Tuesday for the Firestone Invitational hosted by Akron.
