Soccer America Honors Sanders As Nation's Player of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson senior goalkeeper Chip Sanders received another prestigious honor Thursday as leading soccer publication Soccer America named him the Player of the Week for games played Oct. 17-23.
Sanders (Thomasville, Ga.), a team tri-captain, made seven saves in a 1-0 upset win over No. 2 North Carolina Monday, Oct. 17 and made seven more saves in a crucial 1-0 Southern Conference win over Wofford on Saturday. His shutout of Wofford was his eighth of the season, tying the Wildcat record set by Bart Creasman in 2003.
Earlier this week, Sanders was named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer Weekly Honor Roll and the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. He was also named the Southern Conference and the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week.
The Wildcats will honor their seniors, including Sanders, prior to Saturday's match against Appalachian State, set to start at 7 p.m. in Alumni Stadium. The game will also be the team's inaugural Kick Cancer event to raise money to support the Susan G. Komen foundation and its efforts fight breast cancer.
