CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Davidson women's tennis team concluded its 2011 Fall season by competing at the ITA Carolina Regional held on the campus of North Caorlina this weekend.
Senior Stephani Synn (Conover, N.C.) and sophomore Nisha Crouser (Columbus, Ohio) represented the Wildcats at the ITAs.
Synn competed in the main singles draw where she was matched up against Joelle Kissell of N.C. State in the first round. The senior saw her weekend come to an end quickly as she was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Kissell, who was seeded ninth overall in the singles bracket.
Synn and Crouser then teamed up in doubles action and played very well. The Wildcat duo reached the round of 32 when they opened up in the main doubles draw with an impressive 8-6 triumph over a pair from N.C. State. Synn held serve to win the match.
In the round of 32, the pair from Davidson faced a familiar foe in UNCG, which had a doubles team that was seeded fifth. The duos' weekend was halted when they suffered an 8-3 setback.
Davidson's Spring season will start off on the road after the new year when it travels to play N.C. State as well as a neutral site match against Winthrop, Jan. 21.
