ECU Records Pair of Victories over Davidson Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The East Carolina Pirates scored a pair of victories over the Davidson Wildcat men's and women's swimming and diving teams Saturday afternoon at Cannon Natatorium. 

The Pirates defeated the Wildcat men, 167.5-130.5, and the Davidson women, 181.5-109.5.

Freshman Dylan Ludwick, senior Curtis Chaney and senior Geoffrey Peitz each won a pair of titles for the Davidson men. Ludwick finished first in both the 500 (4:41.83) and 1000 free (9:40.82), and Chaney won the 100 (:46.92) and 200 freestyles (1:42.68). Peitz won the 100 back with a time of 52.04, and just outtouched ECU's Attila Kiraly (1:52.30) in the 200 back (1:52.29) to complete the sweep.

Junior Drew Onken was also an individual event winner for the Wildcat men, winning the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.04.

The Wildcat men also swept the relays. Peitz, Onken, senior Joe Burquist and Chaney won the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:26.32, and Peitz, Chaney, senior David Kerman and freshman Brandon Kegley finished first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:26.37.

On the women's side, freshman Meredith Nakano won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.46, and sophomore Liz Mace (59.54) outtouched teammate Kelsi Hobbs (1:00.47) to win the 100 fly.

Davidson will host a third straight meet when William & Mary travels to Cannon for a 1 p.m. dual meet on Saturday, October 29, before traveling to CCSA-foe College of Charleston November 5.
