After Sweeping League Competition, Wildcats Sweep Weekly CCSA Awards

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After sweeping the CCSA competition this weekend at Cannon Natatorium, the Davidson Wildcats swept the weekly CCSA awards as well, as junior Geoffrey Peitz and senior Lindsey Martin were named CCSA Men's and Women's Swimmer of the Week, while freshmen Brian McRae and Kaliya Burton-Akright earned CCSA Men's and Women's Diver of the Week honors, for meets competed Jan. 17-23 and announced today by the League.
Peitz was named CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for a second time this season after winning three individual titles and one relay title to lead Davidson to a 185-66 win over CCSA-foe Howard. Peitz won the 100 back (50.98), the 100 free (46.72) and the 100 fly (50.23) with season-best times in each event and also swam the lead-off leg of the Wildcats' first place 200-medley relay (1:37.80).
Martin earned her fifth of the season and second straight CCSA weekly honor after helping the Wildcats sweep Saturday's six-team CCSA field of Campbell, Georgia Southern, Howard, Liberty, N.C. A&T and Radford. Martin won the 50 free with a time of 23.60 and came from behind to win the 100 free with a time of 51.60. She also anchored the Wildcat 200-medley relay to a first-place finish (1:48.13).
Burton-Akright was named CCSA Women's Diver of the Week for a third time this season after winning Saturday's 1-meter event with a season-best score of 249.05, which ranks second best in the league this season. She followed that performance with a runner-up finish in the 3-meter behind a score of 231.45.
McRae was also named CCSA Men's Diver of the Week for a third time this season, by winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 183.45 and 221.15, respectively.
