
Davidson Men's Soccer Receiving Top 25 Votes

DAVIDSON, N.C – The Davidson men's soccer team is receiving votes in the latest editions of two national Top 25 polls.
Davidson received four points in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings and three points in the SoccerTimes.com Division I College Coaches Poll.
Through seven games, Davidson has only one loss, which came at No. 17 UCLA. The Wildcats also earned a draw against No. 13 UC Santa Barbara. In their most recent outing, Davidson shutout Virginia Tech at home, 1-0. It was their first regular season shutout over an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent since 2003.
Senior midfielder Alex Caskey leads the team in scoring with four goals and an assist. Three of his goals have been the game-winners in 1-0 victories, including the last two matches at Gardner-Webb and versus Virginia Tech.
Senior defender Greg Macnamara and junior goalkeeper Chip Sanders have been strong defensively. Sanders has already been credited with three shutouts, surpassing his total of two last season.
Davidson last cracked the Top 25 in 2009, when Soccer America ranked the 'Cats No. 21 following their 9-1 start, which included 4-1 wins over No. 25 South Carolina and No. 6 Duke.
Davidson opens its Southern Conference schedule Saturday, hosting Elon at 7 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.
