Vitaly Radsky Earns Top Seed at 141 in Saturday’s SoCon Wrestling Championships

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Three Davidson wrestlers will receive first-round byes Saturday in the 2010 Southern Conference Wrestling Championship at Baker Sports Complex.

Junior Vitaly Radsky was awarded the top seed at 141 pounds during a seeding meeting involving league officials and coaches Friday evening. Junior Alex Radsky (133 pounds) and sophomore Tyler Mullen (165 pounds) earned second seeds.

Vitaly went 4-1 in SoCon competition during the 2009-10 season wrestling at 141 pounds, only dropping a close 4-2 decision to VMI's David Yost, and has won 13 of his last 16 matches. Alex went 3-2 in SoCon competition at 133 pounds and is riding an eight-match winning streak.

Mullen also was strong for the 'Cats at 165 pounds. He went 3-1 in conference action and was a Southern Conference All-Freshman selection in 2009.

First round matches will begin at 11 a.m., while the finals will begin at 7 p.m.

The individual champions in each of the 10 weight classes will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Omaha, Neb., March 18-20. The top two wrestlers in each class will receive byes to the quarterfinals. Seeding will be announced the evening prior to the tournament.

Team scoring will determine a team champion of the six competing schools: Appalachian State, Chattanooga, Davidson, The Citadel, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Military Institute. Chattanooga enters as the regular-season champion after posting a 5-0 conference record.
