WILMINGTON, N.C. –
For the second time in as many tournaments this spring, poor weather kept the Davidson's men's golf team off the course as the final round of the Seahawk Intercollegiate, hosted by UNC Wilmington on the Dye Course at Country Club of Landfall, was cancelled Tuesday due to a winter storm moving across the area. The scores from the first two rounds, completed on Monday, were finalized and placed Davidson ninth in a field that featured five teams ranked in the top-50 nationally.

On Monday, freshman John Skeadas led the Wildcats with an even-72 in the first round and a five-over-par 77 in the second to total 149 for the day, tying for 18th-place.

Davidson was in a tie for seventh after shooting a first-round 297, but struggled some in the second round with a 317 to total 614 on the 7,058-yard, par-72 course.

Wilmington, N.C. native Jackson Taylor (75+76=151) placed two strokes behind Skeadas in a tie for 28th place. Junior captain Bobby Urso (t-43rd, 73+82=155) and junior Christopher Rollins (t-49th, 77+82=159) rounded out the 'Cats' scoring group.

No. 7 Augusta State took the team title at 569 (280+289) and was followed by No. 8 South Carolina (588), UNC Wilmington (589), Georgia State (591), East Carolina (592), No. 38 Wake Forest (595), No. 47 VCU (595), No. 39 North Carolina (611) and Davidson. The Wildcats led James Madison (615), William & Mary (626) and Drexel (657).

Augusta State's Patrick Reed (68+71=139, -5) and East Carolina's Jake Colley (70+69=139, -5) tied for the top spot individually.

The Wildcats had hoped to have six rounds of golf in at this point in the season, but rain shortened the spring-season opening Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C. by one round, as well. Davidson will hope for better weather at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C., Mar. 19-21.
