Davidson Closes Regular-Season vs. Furman on Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball team closes out their regular season with a Saturday afternoon contest against Furman as the Wildcats will honor their three seniors, Monica Laune, Julia Paquette and Alex Thompson.
The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (13-14, 11-8 SoCon) look to get a little momentum heading into the Southern Conference Tournament next weekend by hosting Furman (6-22, 4-15 SoCon) on Saturday afternoon at Belk Arena. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., with the Senior Day festivities coming prior to the tip-off.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series is 26-21 in favor of Furman, but the Wildcats have won the last three meetings, and 12 of the past 14 overall. They took this year's first meeting, 81-78.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson had one of its worst shooting nights of the season which resulted in a 58-47 loss to Georgia Southern on Monday. The loss dropped the 'Cats to 1-4 in their last five games.
•The 'Cats saw their 13-game win streak snapped in the all-time series as well as their eight-game home win streak in the series.
•Davidson is finishing out a three-game homestand with its last game today vs. Furman.
•For the 12th time this year, the Wildcats hit the 40-rebound mark with a game-high 45 vs. GSU.
•Ashley Lax led three players in double figures with 15 points – 11 of them in the first half. The junior is averaging 13.3 ppg the last three games, hitting nine of her 13 field goals on treys.
•Senior Alex Thompson, tops on the team with a 12.7 ppg average, has collected 16 rebounds the last two games. She ranks second on the team with 111 made field goals and 43 treys.
•Sophia Aleksandravicius, second on the team with an 11.8 ppg average, has 11 double-doubles – nine vs. SoCon teams. She had her first double-double, 28 games and 13 rebounds, vs. Furman.
•Aleksandravicius is averaging a double-double in home games, 14.5 ppg and an even 10 rpg.
•Aleksandravicius' 45 blocks are good for fifth-most in a single Wildcat season.
•Davidson ranks in the SoCon top-five overall in scoring (1st- 66.3), field goal percentage (3rd- .415), 3-point field goal percentage (2nd- .357), rebounding (5th- 39.1) and blocks (5th- 3.3).
•The 'Cats are 7-4 at home (5-4 vs. SoCon). This is the ninth straight season with a winning home record. Overall, Davidson is 70-28 during the last nine years at Belk Arena.
•This will be the Wildcats' 48th meeting with Furman in the all-time series as they trail, 21-26. They have dominated the series as of late, winning three straight and 12 of the last 14 meetings.
•The two teams first meeting this year was at Furman, Nov. 30, with the 'Cats taking an 81-78 decision to open up Southern Conference play for both teams.
•Davidson shot an even 50 percent for the game and had two players reach the 20-point mark. Thompson joined Aleksandravicius with over 20 points, getting 22, while dishing out six assists.
Scouting the Cougars
•Furman dropped a 60-49 decision at UNC Greensboro on Tuesday, its ninth straight defeat.
•The Paladins have not won since Jan. 19, a 61-46 victory over UNC Greensboro.
•Tuesday saw Raegan Thompson's 3-pointer give Furman a 46-44 lead with 8:53 to go, but the Paladins were outscored 16-3 the rest of the way, managing only three Kendra Berry free throws.
•Furman's leading scorer, Lee Stephens, was held to 3-of-15 shooting and just eight points. On the season she averages 12.0 ppg, but is even better in conference games with a 13.7 ppg average.
•In her last three games vs. the 'Cats, Stephens has dropped in 17, 18 and 30 points. The 30-point game was the 4th of her career as she hit 7-of-16 field goals and 14-for-16 from the charity stripe.
•Stephens is shooting 80 percent from the line, going 117-for-146.
•Furman is 3-12 on the road, 2-7 vs. SoCon
•The Paladins last road win came over Appalachian State, Dec. 21.
•The Paladins are fifth in the league in scoring defense, allowing 62.8 points, but are allowing opponents to shoot 42.6 percent on them.
•Furman's last win at Davidson was back in the 2000-01 season when it took an 81-53 decision on Jan. 9, 2001.
•Furman is tied with Davidson for fourth in the league with 150 made three-pointers.
