'Cats Look to Keep Streak Alive vs. GSU on Monday Evening

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Playing their second-to-last game of the season, the Davidson women's basketball team will look to make it 14 straight in the all-time series vs. Georgia Southern when they host the Eagles on Monday evening.
The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (13-13, 11-7 SoCon) are seeking to grab hold of fifth place all to themselves in the Southern Conference standings when they host the Georgia Southern Eagles (16-11, 11-7 SoCon) on Monday at 7 p.m.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series has Davidson leading 19-17 after taking this year's first meeting, 68-50. The 'Cats have had the Eagles number lately, winning the past 13 meetings.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson got back on the winning track with a three-point win over College of Charleston on Saturday, 72-69. It was the start of a three-game homestand to close out the season.
•The 'Cats were on fire in the first half, draining 17-of-24 shots for a 70.8 percent clip. At one time, they had hit 11-of-13 shots, including 6-for-7 from behind the arc, to grab a 35-20 lead.
•Davidson closed the game with its fourth contest of shooting over 50 percent, while hitting a season-high 10 three-pointers on 19 tries (52.6 percent).
•Ashley Lax led three players in double figures with 15, all coming in the first half. The junior is third on the team in scoring at 10.5 ppg and has a team-high 51 three-pointers.
•Senior Alex Thompson had her 20th double figure game with 13 points, while moving into second all-time in program history in treys with 156 after she went 3-of-6 on Saturday.
•Fellow senior Julia Paquette had her 40th career doubled-digit game in points with 12.
•Sophia Aleksandravicius, second on the team with an 11.6 ppg average, has 11 double-doubles – nine vs. SoCon teams. She ranks among the best in the nation in double-doubles, 25th, while also ranking in the top-100 in rebounds (84th- 8.2 rpg) and blocks (68th- 1.6 bpg).
•Aleksandravicius' 44 blocks on the season are good for fifth-most in a single Wildcat season.
•Davidson ranks in the SoCon top-five overall in scoring (1st- 67.0), field goal percentage (3rd- .420), 3-point field goal percentage (2nd- .359), rebounding (5th- 38.9) and blocks (5th- 3.3).
•The 'Cats are 7-3 at home (5-3 vs. SoCon) and winners of four of their last six. They are averaging close to 70 points a game at home and shooting 37.3 percent from downtown.
•This will be the Wildcats' 37th meeting with GSU in the all-time series as they lead 19-17. They have dominated the series as of late, rattling off a 13-game win streak, eight of them at home.
•The two teams first meeting this year was at Georgia Southern, Jan. 18, with the 'Cats taking a 68-50 win, their seventh straight win on the road in the series.
•Senior Monica Laune led three 'Cats in double figures with 15 points.
Scouting the Cougars
•Georgia Southern took a 68-50 win on Saturday at home over Wofford. The Eagles ran out to a 36-21 halftime lead and never looked back.
•Carolyn Whitney lead two Eagles in double digits with 19 points, while Jamie Navarro had 17 points.
•Whitney leads the team in scoring at 11.7 ppg, while also pacing the team in made threes (45), assists (66) and minutes per game (30.4). The senior was held eight points last time vs. the 'Cats.
•Navarro, second in the conference in free throw percentage (.887), had a game-high 15 points last time out vs. Davidson. The guard has drained 102-of-115 free throws on the season.
•J'Lisia Ogburn had a double-double (16 pts./10 rebs.) last year at Davidson. She is second on the team in scoring at 9.9 ppg and is averaging close to five boards a game.
•Since last playing the Wildcats, Jan. 18, the Eagles have been on a roll, winning seven of their last eight games, including their last three.
•The Eagles are tops in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 56.1 ppg. They also rank fourth in steals per game at 9.4.
•GSU has been very good on the road this year, going 9-5, including 7-2 vs. the SoCon. They have won their last five road games.
•Head Coach Rusty Cram is in his 15th season.
•GSU went 5-4 vs. non-conference foes this year.
