DAVIDSON, N.C. — Adding another post-season honor to an impressive resume, senior outside hitter Sarabeth Peele was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information (NCCSIA) University Division All-State volleyball team.
Peele and Wake Forest's sophomore middle blocker Andrea Beck join four members from High Point's 22-13 squad that captured the program's first Big South Championship on the six-person NCCSIA All-State team. High Point's senior libero Julie Hershkowitz, freshman setter Maddie Simpson, senior outside hitter Megan Smith and senior middle blocker Stephanie Wallin were selected after leading the Panthers to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
A First-Team All-SoCon selection, Peele finished tied for first place in the league with a 3.48 kills per set average. A member of the ESPN Academic All-District Third Team, Peele started every match for Davidson, topping the 20-kill mark six times with five double-doubles.
Beck was an All-ACC selection and a First-Team ESPN Academic All-District honoree, helping Wake Forest to a 19-12 overall record. She finished second on the team with 312 kills and 100 total blocks and paced the Demon Deacons with a .320 hitting percentage.
A First-Team All-Big South selection, Hershkowitz led the Big South with 688 digs, finishing her career with a program-record 2,416. She turned in four 30-dig performances and 13 20-dig efforts.
Simpson capped a solid rookie season with Big South All-Freshman team honors and All-Tournament team accolades. She paced the Big South with nine 50-plus assist performances, including a career-high 61 assist outing in a five-set victory over conference foe Winthrop.
Smith was named First-Team All-Big South as she paced the Panthers with a 3.93 kills per set average. Smith set the Panthers single-season record with 523 kills and was named to the Big South All-Tournament team after averaging 4.50 kills per set in leading the Panthers to their first conference championship in program history.
Wallin capped her career with Second-Team All-Big South honors after posting, 228 kills, 90 total blocks and a .322 attack percentage, the best second best attack percentage in school history. Wallin ended her career as the program's all-time leader in hitting percentage (.289) and is one of just six members of the Panthers 1,000-kill club.
