Wildcats Open Kenyon College Invitational with 800 Freestyle Relay Record

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Davidson Wildcats opened the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational in winning fashion, taking the individual title in the women's 800 freestyle relay with a new college-record time Thursday night at the Kenyon Aquatics Center.
Anna Stringfield, Jessica Delgehausen, Jean DeOrnellas and Lindsey Martin won the 800 freestyle relay with a new Davidson-best time of 7:30.89. Stringfield led off the relay with a season-best 200 free time of 1:51.24.
Delgehausen also finished ninth in the 1650 freestyle, the Wildcats' top finisher in the event with a season-best time of 17:32.41. Sophomore Lillie Seifart finished 20th with a personal-best time of 17:46.60.
The Wildcat men's relay of Geoff Peitz, Drew Onken, David Kerman and Wills Cooper finished in ninth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:58.05.
The Wildcat women are in fifth place with 55.5 points at the conclusion of the first day of competition. The University of Pennsylvania leads the seven-team field with 200 points, followed by Colgate (93), Kenyon (91) and Wayne State (71). Carnegie Melon (32.5) and Grove City College (31) round out the field.
The Davidson men are in sixth place with 34 points. Pennsylvania (189) is leading the men's field as well, followed by Kenyon (140), Wayne State (76), Carnegie Melon (58) and Colgate (50). Grove City College (17) rounds out the field.
Davidson returns to action tomorrow with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
