
After Helping Wildcats to Win over Cougars, Peitz Named CCSA Swimmer of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Behind three individual titles to help the Davidson Wildcat men's swimming and diving team to a CCSA dual-meet victory over the College of Charleston Cougars Saturday, junior Geoffrey Peitz has been selected CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week for meets competed Oct. 25-3, announced by the league office.
Peitz won three individual titles with CCSA season-top times to help the Wildcats overcome rival College of Charleston, 180-111, in team's first dual-meet and league win of the season. Peitz won both backstroke events, clocking 52.02 in the 100 back and 1:56.44 in the 200 back, and also swam the 11th fastest time in CCSA history with a time of 50.37 in the 100 fly.
It is the second career honor for Peitz, who was also named CCSA Swimmer of the Week for Nov. 7, 2008. Peitz is the third Wildcat to earn a weekly league honor on the men's side, after sophomore swimmer Drew Onken and freshman diver Brian McRae did so in week one.
Charleston's Peter Gibbons earned his third consecutive CCSA Diver of the Week honor after winning both diving events in the dual meet against Davidson this past weekend. In the 1-meter, Gibbons scored 271.35 and posted a 235.72 in the 3-meter event.
